  • Selection of luminaire types in terms of application arrow icon
Each type of luminaire has its place on stage and in the auditorium. Nowadays we distinguish between two main groups of luminaires a) conventional b) intelligent - motion, digital. Conventional luminaires are divided according to the type of optics - Pebble Covex and Plan Covex (PC), Fresnel, Profile, Surface and Low Voltage (NV). One controlled (dimmable) channel from the substation is required for each conventional luminaire. The smart ones are Head (Spot, Wash), Scanner, LED and combinations of these. To control these luminaires, you need a
  • Selection of luminaire types in terms of light source arrow icon

Several types of light sources are currently used. Each has its advantages and disadvantages.

Classic incandescent lamps - currently no longer used, the production of these lights ended about 30 years ago.

Halogen bulbs - used in current conventional, TV and studio lights, note the different wattages and different sockets. Wattage may not always be a guide.

Wiring - used in work, film and TV luminaires. The luminous flux cannot be controlled and they take some time after switching on for the discharge to reach full intensity. The luminous efficiency of a discharge lamp is greater than that of a halogen bulb, this is usually the reason for their deployment. Another reason is the colour temperature of the discharge, which is the same or even higher than daylight. This is why they are sometimes called cold light. The intensity of the lamp can only be fully continuously regulated by mechanical light transmission (so-called louvres). They

  • Basic design advice arrow icon
The stage and auditorium lighting is electrician specific. More than once we have come across projects that were so far advanced that they could not be saved. When working on a project, it is important to think about how the lighting system works in the theatre and why it is designed that way.
  • The most suitable luminaire location arrow icon

A separate 3x1.5mm power cable must be connected to each luminaire. Some architects forget that the stage is also lit from lights located off stage. In cultural houses and small "school" projects, the so-called auditorium bracket is used on both the left and right side of the auditorium. Each console is fitted with at least 2-4 PC spot lights with flaps to shade the light source. In theatre and more professional facilities with theatre operations, so-called auditorium bridges, catwalks or suspension structures are designed across the entire width of the auditorium. Larger theatres have several such bridges. The balcony can also be used for front lighting in an emergency. Front lighting must be done from above, at least at an angle of 30°! Direct front lighting at a low angle would create shadows on the horizon!

On stage, the luminaires are placed on the strokes (theatres) or fixed ceiling structures (small "culture houses" and schools) and in the so-called portals (inner left and right side of the

  • Switchgear and dimmers arrow icon
All cables are to converge in one place, preferably at the respective switch cabinets (substation). There they will be connected to the dimmers (regulated junction boxes) to which the power cables from the main switchboard must be fed. The whole system is controlled by a digital protocol from the lighting desk.
